ATTENTION! THE VIEWING PLATFORM IS NOT ACCESSIBLE VIA PATH NO. 3 FROM Maso Corto CAUSED BY CONSTRUCTION AT THE MOUNTAIN STATION.
The Iceman Ötzi Peak viewing platform sits enthroned on the Grawand peak on the Val Senales Glacier, which is probably the most easily conquerable peak in the world. Hard to believe, but you can climb it in just 10 minutes. From the mountain station of the Val Senales glacier cable car, you climb over rocks and up safe steel stairs to 3,251 metres. And then, a little breathless, you catch sight of it: the dreamlike view. 126 three-thousand-metre peaks in three countries. Cliffs and sky blue, scree and glacier lake, the Ortler and Ötzi’s home town. You’ve never been up there? Try it and see the world with new eyes.
LOOKING BACK AND LOOK FAR
The Iceman Ötzi Peak allows you to look far around and far back. From the height you can see the Hochjochferner and the snowfield of the Similaun. The oldest and most famous glacier mummy in the world was discovered at its foot: Ötzi. Perhaps the Iceman even once looked down into the valley from the summit like you.
At your feet is the path of transhumance and the watershed, a natural border between Italy and Austria. When the weather is clear and with a bit of luck, you might be able to see the blue of the Adriatic Sea. What an adventure!
Note: The Iceman Ötzi Peak viewing platform remains closed in bad weather.
