Ötzi Alpin Marathon4/27/2019EXTREME TRIATHLON: THE ÖTZI ALPIN MARATHON TAKES YOU UP TO THE ETERNAL ICE ON THE SCHNALSTAL GLACIER This event requires fitness, courage and a large portion of desire for a sporty adventure. The Ötzi Alpin Marathon is an extreme marathon - not just for running. The athletes cover a total distance of 42.2 kilometres on mountain bikes, running shoes and touring skis. But one after the other: "From blossom to glacier" - is the slogan of the event. Because if you follow in Ötzi's footsteps up to the eternal ice, everything begins harmlessly down in the valley. The early bloomers are in full bloom in beautiful Naturns in South Tyrol. You are still at an altitude of 554 metres. From Naturns you can start your mountain bike tour into the Schnals Valley. The distance of 24.2 km is the longest section. Then follows the 11.3 km run to Kurzras. From Kurzras to the finish at the Grawand mountain restaurant in the highest situated hotel in Europe, the Glacier Hotel Kurzras, the participants tackle a further 1201 metres with their touring skis to reach the finish at the mountain station of the Glacier cable car (3212 metres). The competition can be held alone or in a team of three.
