Björgen wins again
The Norwegian Team
Marit Björgen is also this Winter World-Cup in a class by herself. The multiple cross-country skiing world champion from Norway defeated on Sunday the finnish Kuusamo in the handicap race. Björgen won the classic style on more than 10 km at a time of 28:00 minutes. The second place went to Theres Johaug with 33,00 seconds behind Björgen, who scored in this race the fastest run time. Norwegian success went to Vibeke Skofterud on the third place with 33,7 seconds behing Björgen. All the three ladies have completed their high altitude training this fall again on the glacier of Val Senales.

Also this year was the glacier of Val Senales a meeting place for many athletes and national teams of the noridc disciplines. They were preparing themselves at the slopes at high-altitude training for the cross-country season 2011/2012. The athletes found best training conditions on the high trail on over 3.000 m above sea level. We were pleased to welcome the following national teams this fall: German national team of cross-country skiing, Italian national cross-country skiing team - FISI Fondo, Norway's national biathlon team, Austria’s national cross country team, Polish national biathlon team and the Russian national cross-country team.

Over more than 20 years are the norwegian national teams on the glacier of Val Senales for the high-altitude training. One of these are Marit Björgen (cross-country-skiing) and Aksel Lund Svindal (alpine skiing). But also many other international cross-country ski teams prepare themselves every year on the glacier for the next winter season. So also the Olymic champion Justina Kowalczyk of Poland and many other medal winners. And the training confirms the success...
