Ötzi - the man from the ice

A man, who was destined to become very famous, is walking alone along a path. Ötzi, the Man from the Ice!
He lived between 3,350 and 3,100 B.C. when copper was being used for the very first time in Europe. People had originally been attracted to the region by the wild animals who made it their natural habitat and later there was the added advantage of the presence of this precious metal, copper. The Southern Alpine region came under the influence of the so-called Remedello culture which flourished in the flatland near the river Po in the central area of northern Italy. Far-reaching cultural connections have long been a feature of the Alps and prove that the area has always been an important bridge between north and south.
